Well work has been progressing on my British
Napoleonics. Finished 5 companys of my Gordon Highlanders, just got the Light company to do and I will have finished the full battalion! (Must redo their plumes too now I understand the colouring system!)
That might have to wait though because I've started painting my KGL 1st
Hussars. In the meantime though here are some photos of my highlanders:

Hi Brian Thanks very much for taking the time to view my blog and to leave a comment... I think you're actually the very first person to view my blog!! Glad you liked my Highlanders they were my first Napoleonic unit I've painted previously I've just done fantasy stuff but after trying out Flames of War I was bitten by the historical bug! Nearly finished 2 more units so I'll try to get photos up ASAP. Good luck with your highlanders...if you would like advice on how I painted my tartan just ask! Cheers again!
Hi Curt Thanks for looking at my new blog and for taking the time to comment and I'm glad you liked my Highlanders! It was certainly a learning curve painting Napoleonics for the first time...at first I was black lining all the strapping and I thought it might take me a year to finish them...especially with the complicated tartan too! Gradually I found a routine and some shortcuts (oh the joy of ink washes!) and I was able to speed things up a bit but tbh I'm a very methodical painter and I'm never quick!
Now that is what I call an impressive unit. Highlanders are on my painting schedule - I have book-marked this page for inspiration.

I understand that a certain level of OCD is required to paint tartan:)
ReplyDeleteHaHa... not sure about OCD...definitely a high level of masochism!!
ReplyDeleteLovely work on these Gordons. And to do Highlanders as one of your first units - well done!
