Hey Sexy lady...

Well I've started work on my first ever large scale model as mentioned in a previous post. It's a scantily clad lady from Andrea Miniatures entitled "Bus Stop" from their pin-up range. I got it to try out something different...and because I like half naked ladies!
Work will probably be quite slow as I've still got a couple of regiments of Napoleonic infantry to finish!
I will of course provide updates when I have them! (And hopefully she might have 2 legs by then!!)

Andrea Color flesh paints

Picked these up from flea bay the other day. Never used Andrea paints before but seeing as I've just purchased an Andrea model kit to try something different with I thought I'd give them a go! There are 7 paints in the set and they come in dropper bottles similar to Vallejo. Strangely the instructions are along the lines of "mix shade 1 with shade 2 to create a base"
Not too much of a problem, but with 7 shades of flesh in the set you probably would expect it to be a bit simpler! I'm going to give them a try sometime over the weekend so I'll post an update on my findings...

what's on my painting table

When... I say my painting table I actually mean the dining room table... As my wife is always pointing out to me!! Every time I have a purge it seems to build back up again in no time at all!!

Well... Here's the current state of play. Look closely and you might just be able to make out 3(yes three!)regiments of British Napoleonic infantry, a regiment of Light Dragoon cavalry, some test build Austrian Napoleonic infantry (I was trying to keep those under my hat!), an 80mm Andrea miniature oh and a 1980s zoid undergoing some repairs for my daughter!

A Grand Day Out

Got a week off work so hopefully should make good progress on the painting front this week, but unfortunately I've got to spend some time with the missus and my two little daemons too! ( which one is the Sith apprentice is still unclear as they both have so many differing dark talents! ).
So to keep them amused I took them to Bristol yesterday and we went Gromit Hunting! Basically the city has hidden 80 statues of Gromit (the famous Aardman animation dog) around the city. We walked miles and miles... Think I've worn their legs down to stumps and we've only found 32 so far!!

pin-ups

Got this in the post yesterday. Fancied painting something different for a change so I thought I'd attempt a bigger scale.
Being a predictable male I thought I would go for a scantily clad female!!

Actually I thought it would be more of a challenge to paint a female as there's more skin tones to paint and I also thought the stockings would present an interesting challenge... And of course I like women in stockings!
The miniature is from Andrea miniature's pin-up range and I got it online from a French company who's name I'm afraid escapes me for the moment...must be my age or maybe just the excitement of painting semi-naked females, albeit metal 80mm ones!
I'll attempt this project as soon as I've finished the couple of Napoleonic regiments I'm currently working on so watch this space....

Update and hello

Just a really quick update today... I've been away on a course with work so nothing new to report although work is nearing completion on my next two napoleonic infantry units and also a regiment of light Dragoons so hopefully I'll be able to put some more pictures up in the next week or so!

Also a big hello and thanks to my two newest followers... Brian Botzen and Laughing Ferret! You're most welcome !

British Napoleonic Foot Artillery

Finished my first unit of artillery. The 3 nine pounder guns and crew are from the Victrix box set with the addition of a couple of mounted Perry artillery captains.
I enjoyed the change of painting blue rather than red! A few more units of Infantry are planned next and maybe another unit of cavalry.
Comments and criticisms are most welcome as always....

68th Foot (Durham) Light Infantry

Those of you who have read my Flames of War posts will know my love for the Durham Light Infantry (DLI)
If you haven't looked at those posts, please do...there is some great history and personal accounts from members of the Regiment.

When I started painting Napoleonics, the first regiment I painted was my Gordon Highlanders. This was purely because they were the only models that my local games store had in stock! My plan quickly evolved though to try and re-create the 7th Division from the Peninsular War (specifically the Battle of Vittoria) because they included the Durham Light Infantry.

The 7th Division is actually very interesting . It was known as 'the Mongrel Division' because it contained such a mix of troops from different nationalities.
Here is my eventual planned units:

1st Brigade: Major General Barnes:
1/6th Foot Regiment
3rd Provisional Battalion
2/24th Foot Regiment
2/58th Foot Regiment
Brunswick Oels (9 coys)

2nd Brigade: Major General Grant:
1/51st Foot Regiment
1/68th Foot Regiment
1/82nd Foot Regiment
Chasseurs Britanniques(French)

3rd Brigade:Major General Le Cor
7th Portuguese Regiment
19th Portuguese Regiment
2nd Cacadores

plus some supporting units of cavalry and artillery.

Well, that's enough of my plan, here is my finished 68th Foot (DLI):
